What is Endometriosis?

It is when tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus occurs outside the uterus. It is a chronic and often painful condition that also causes inflammation.

What are the Symptoms of Endometriosis?

These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Painful periods
  • Pain in the pelvis
  • Fatigue
  • Pain when going to the toilet
  • Bloating, constipation or diarrhea
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Bleeding between periods
  • Infertility

How is Endometriosis Diagnosed?

  • Diagnosis can take some time, but it is important that you speak to your doctor should you have any concerns. A range of tests can be completed to diagnose or rule out other causes.
  • This may include:
    • Pelvic Check up
    • Ultrasound
    • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
    • Laparoscopy (keyhole surgery)

Raising Awareness is extremely important in Endometriosis.
